Ordinances
The Village of Wild Rose Board of Trustees is requesting input on future ordinances regarding activities affecting air quality including outdoor water stoves, leaf burning, fire rings, and traditional wood burning stoves and furnaces. Comments may be sent by email to drygulch12@centurytel.net.
Section 4-5-10 Grave Decorations A. Spring decorations may be placed on grave spaces beginning May 1, and are subject to removal on September 30. Winter decorations may be placed on grave spaces beginning November 1, and are subject to removal April 15. If any decorations are to be kept for future use, they should be removed by the owners before the cemetery’s removal dates. Grave site decorations of any type including flags, wreaths, flowers which have become unsightly, broken, hazardous, or a maintenance problem may be removed at any time by the Village Maintenance Department. Neither the Village nor its Agents assumes any responsibility for their return. B. Glass receptacles for cut or artificial flowers shall not be used on any grave, nor shall fragile receptacles be used as a container for flowers or otherwise. C. In no event shall the Village or its Agents be responsible for decorations or articles placed in the Oakhill Cemetery. D. Urns or vases which are to be filled with earth and growing plants shall be constructed of durable material such as frost-proof cement or cast iron. They shall be kept in good repair and iron vases shall be properly sealed or painted. Broken or unpainted/unsealed urns or vases and vases that have not received care for two consecutive years may be removed at the discretion of the Village Maintenance Department. Neither the Village nor its Agents assumes any responsibility for their care or return. E. The placing of boxes, shelves, ornaments, chairs, settees, glass, wood, iron cases, and similar articles upon a lot or grave shall not be permitted. If so placed, the Village Maintenance Department is authorized to remove same with neither the Village nor its Agents assuming any responsibility for their care or return. F. No mounds shall be allowed in the cemetery. All grave spaces shall be filled so they will be flush with the ground. G. The placing of shepherd hooks is restricted. No person may place or install a shepherd hook on any grave space without first receiving permission for its placement by the Village Maintenance Department. The maximum height of a shepherd hook shall not exceed thirty inches between the top of the marker or monument and the top of the shepherd hook. No shepherd hook shall be used for any purpose other than to support hanging flower or wreaths. H. Wooden fences, railings, and other enclosures are prohibited. Section 4-5-6 Grave Markers & Retaining Walls All grave markers placed in the Oak Hill Cemetery shall be placed on a concrete base, the surface of which shall be level with the ground. Such base shall be at least eight inches (8") wider than the stone or marker placed thereon. No person shall plant any tree or shrubs on cemetery property. No person shall plant any tree or shrubs on their burial plot or lot. The owner of a burial plot, or family member of a owner of a burial lot (in the name of that loved one), may provide money toward purchase and planting of a tree, shrub, subshrub, woody landscape plant, or peony to be planted on the perimeter of the cemetery or in replacement of any existing tree or shrub. Final approval of the cultivar to be planted, planting site, and cost of purchase and planting remains with the Mill Pond, Parks, and Cemetery Committee. The family who provides money to purchase and plant a woody plant in memory of a the family member will be notified one week in advance of the time and date of the such planting. No retaining walls may be built on cemetery property.
